    Reccommend a CMS

Im working on a new site design for a client that needs to be updatable in certain places. Ideally I dont want to go with anything template based, I dont want to spend hours hacking a design to fit. Theres also going to be a fair amount of interactive content, as well as streaming video.
So basically something where I can just plug modules in where I need them.
Has anyone got any suggestions? Am I asking the impossible?

    Thanks

Hosting is a linux shared hosting package on godaddy.
I suppose its worth mentioning that Droopal, Joomla and mambo are all installable directly from my control panel.

    Re: Reccommend a CMS

Ive been thinking about this more recently, and I have an idea but Im not sure how doable it is.
Basically what I was thinking of doing, was setting up a wordpress blog then parsing the rss feeds from the pages with php and using them as the content for the site.
Is this doable? More to the point is this a stupidly complicated way of doing things?
I realise I could just create a custom wordpress theme, but Im not sure how easy that would be to do with my layout.

Note to self: In future turn down any work that involves any kind of web development!

    Re: Reccommend a CMS

Theoretically, yes that could work - realistically though you're just massively over complicating things for yourself.

Honestly the best thing to do would just be to go with an actual CMS system, you've already mentioned a few Droopal, Joomla, etc. - play about with them and see which you think would be best suited for your client.
Either that, or why would something like Wordpress not work? You can do all kinds of things with plugins now.

    Re: Reccommend a CMS

If you have reasonable experience in PHP development, you may be just as well to create your own CMS, as that way you have 100% control over how it works and you can build in whatever you want. This means that you don't have to use the templating and theming systems used by the big platforms like Wordpress.

Alternatively, the old-school script CuteNews might be a good option. It's very simple and uses flat-file databases rather than MySQL, but it is easy to implement and theme.
