    Opera 10.50 Beta out!

    This is good, very good.

And i'm loving the all-windows-y-7-e-stuff! Once again leading the way

I've decided to knock my chrome experiment on the head and try this instead.

Not had any problems so far - not bad for a beta so i'm going to try it as my main browser for a while

    Re: Opera 10.50 Beta out!

I've been using it at home since Thursday and don't have a single problem with it.

It did take me a while to find the settings and preferences, then I realised there is a drop down in the new Opera logo in the top left corner.

I think I prefer the solid status bar at the bottom of the window instead of the one that changes the width based on the URL you are hovering over. But that's not really anything to complain about.

It's been rock solid and I haven't found any rendering problems with it at all on any of my usual sites. Facebook seems better behaved, although that could just be the Facebook devs actually coding pages right for a change.

Did have a problem with "ghosting" when not running full screen - that appears to have gone after a reboot.

    Still having some Java problems

I guess thats why it a beta LOL

    Re: Opera 10.50 Beta out!

Took a while to get Java working (with latest Java) but there was a tip on Opera's forum about this.

Java is no longer a plug-in; Opera picks it up from Java's directory, so deleting the Java files from Opera's folder (something like ...\Opera 10.5\program\plugins, but could be in your user-account if a full installer used) enables Opera to run Java.

Opera might detect the plug-in in Firefox's set-up and apparently this can also be deleted and FF will still be OK on Java (I run Pale Moon, so the path will be too unusual to find).

    Comodo's Speed-test works with 10.5 Beta

Now I just need a button to turn Java Off/On!

Quite liking this latest Opera. Looks luvverly. Does seem to get its knickers in a twist if I open several tabs and type in address shortcuts very quickly, such as "hx" for Hexus or "news" for BBC News.

Hmm I don't think it's new to this version but Opera Unite looks like a terrible idea and a critical vulnerability waiting to happen. Can it be disabled, and I mean completely disabled?

Yes. Type opera:config in the Address bar, hit Enter to get Config up. In Search put webserver then change the choices as you wish. Save and then, with this, restarting Opera would be a good idea.

Edit: search also for unite and edit that.

With these 2 done, Unite should be well and truly dead!

Already got. Very steady and stable for me.

Anyone having a problem with phantom bookmark folders? I deleted a folder and then made a new bookmark for the shop the folder had links to. Different products that I've now bought so I just need the main shop site bookmarked. Everytime I type "sh" nothing happens and I find the folder I had deleted has reappeared. I'm not sure if its happening immediately after being deleted or if it happens when I install a new version of the beta.
