ok so i have been using ubuntu for like a week now and i love it however one thing i do miss from windows 7 is the network map thing it has
i mean this:
does anyone know of a program that does the same in ubuntu?
i looked a lanmap but i couldnt find out where to download it from
What ar you trying to do exactly? You can see devices on the network from "computer" > "networks" (I use mint which is a ubuntu derivative). If you want to share files between linux and windows devices you will need something like samba to do so.

Hmmm, that is an interesting feature. I don't know of any good FOSS implementations of that, sadly.
