How about changing the order of setting up the guide and signal is changed so that the channels are scanned before the guide is downloaded?
Then the guide is correct for the channels you actually receive!
Instead, this utterly stupid system of entering your postcode and some useless coverage checker guesses which transmitter you'll connect to. Media center than downloads the guide based on channels it guesses you can receive then it scans for channels.
For my Vista media center, I did some registry hacking to sort this after some research, but you know what? I'd rather have the time than have to spend hours fiddling using guides from the internet to get my TV working properly. If I wanted to waste my time that way, I'd be using Linux.
Currently, I have a load of "no data available" and some missing channels due to this short sighted design.
At the same time I was posting this, I was searching for a way of providing feedback to Microsoft on this. After 5 minutes I decided I can;t be bothered.
This is what happens when you have a company run by the one dimensional beings known as developers.
