problem installing vista x64 service packs

i am having problem installing vista x64 service packs , if i try to download them using windows update they stop downloading after a while . i have downloaded both sp1 and sp2 for 64bit vista but sp1 fails to install near the end of the progress bar , it gives this "0x80070002" as the error code . what programs could cause this problem as i have tried to install the updates for the last 2 days ?

Have you looked the error code up ?
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

    Hi,

Have you tried the other M/S article?

This one has worked for me in the past, when I had a Client's PC with similar problems.

Re: problem installing vista x64 service packs

found the problem , it was the smbus drivers that was casusing it . thats a local computer shop for you , i had my system die on me and had purchased the bits to rebuild it . i decided to go for an intel setup this time , the mobo i purchased had a faulty pci-e slot so they wanted to test it while still installed , so they had my system overnight to test it . found the fault and fitted a new mobo but it was a ddr3 mobo , they fitted it and installed 4gb of ram and phoned me saying they had sorted it but it would cost an extra £44 as they had to change the mobo/ram . i was not happy i had to pay extra but ended up with a better mobo , they wanted to keep it and reinstall the vista x64 i had purched at the same time . they phoned me the next day and said it was ready , i got there to pick it up but it still needed the gfx drivers installed . i said i would do it but i did not expect any problems , what a nightmare it was and found when i installed my av program that it had a keylogger on it ( angry at this point?) . i ended up doing a format and reinstall the os as they had made a right **** up of it and got me a keylogger virus as well , how do i stand with this keylogger virus etc ?

Re: problem installing vista x64 service packs

i just find it odd after spending £189 on mobo/cpu and 64bit os they want an extra £44 , it may be a better mobo but it is value ram they fitted (kingston) . the ddr2 i had was also kingston but it was the hyperX model lol , how much better is ddr3 anyways ?

Re: problem installing vista x64 service packs

What was the files name and location of the keylogger? And what name was it identified as in the antivirus package?

It mightn't have been a proper keylogger used to obtain your details, but seems suspect anyway on a brand new installation.

I'm just wondering if they'd used something like Keyfinder to pull the install Key off?

Re: problem installing vista x64 service packs

Better to contact the shop and tell them the issues that you have had and give them the chance to improve their service and find the key logger.
If you're still not satisfied, Googlebomb them back to the stone age as they say.
    Society's to blame,
    Or possibly Atari.

Re: problem installing vista x64 service packs

i just find it odd that the latest driver on asus's site caused this problem , i could not even install the gfx drivers properly . but at least i got it sorted with a format/reinstall , just need a better cpu than the e6500 lol
