I have installed windows 7 pro. I can't find files on a hard drive i had as a backup drive and I can't see files downloaded to c:\ e.g. zip files. What am i doing wrong?

Did you do a clean install or a upgrade from your previous OS? if its a clean install it will of wiped everything on the drive unless you had them stored in a seperate partition.
Windows 7 downloads files to your 'download' folder:
c:\users\your_name\downloads I think.
If you know the name of the file you want, just use the search box: just click 'Start' and type in the name, Win-7 will find it.
I think the search feature is one of the better updates in Win-7 and use it for everything as it's nearly as quick typing in for example, 'Word', as selecting a shortcut.

The primary hdd was upgraded. Whats weird is that the files are on a separate hdd which is there for separate storage.
I'll try the search function.
