Finding number of licenses attached to a key

I've just come across a stray Office 2003 key here that isn't in use - is there an easy way of finding out how many licenses the key is valid for, as I suspect it's a volume licensing one?

    i think it's just 1 although if you're a student i think you get 3. I don't think theres a tool to check it.

I'm now talking to an MS Customer Service Representative.

If I never post on Hexus again, you'll know why.

MS will have dragged you off for even daring to think about using a volume license key without breaching the terms and conditions? But if people use their software legally, how will they be able to keep banging on about the damage piracy does!?!

Okay, I'm getting close to stabbing my eyes out with pencils.

Apparently it's impossible for Microsoft to do this

In which case it must be impossible for them to tell if you've used your license too many times, in which case you might as well just go for it?

Quite... they're not exactly endearing themselves to me at the moment, considering my above-and-beyond approach to piracy avoidance :/
