    Directory Opus help thread

    started using it on the free trial on my desktop and really like it, you can get so much more inforamtion on screen that with regular explorer.

    one thing though, is there any way to get more information on copy/move dialogs? I have Copy from, current file progress and all files progress. I'd like at least transfer speed to show as well.

    I figure there will be other questions, so this could become a useful thread eventually

    Re: Directory Opus help thread

    You could use the Teracopy button plugin (you'll need to install Teracopy).

    As Dopus has to load a separate program to copy/move you're probably better off using the button for files which will take a while, though if you like, you can replace the copy/move function with the Teracopy one.

    Re: Directory Opus help thread

    Easy..

    Settings->Preferences->File Operations->Progress Indicators

    Set "Show Progress bar speed timer when copy from or to:" to "Any Location"

    I also use teracopy for queuing file operations - i set up two buttons "TeraMove" and "TeraCopy" which basically do this:

    "c:\Program Files\TeraCopy\TeraCopy.exe" Copy *{allfilepath|filem} {destpath}

    "c:\Program Files\TeraCopy\TeraCopy.exe" Move *{allfilepath|filem} {destpath}

    (that's what you put in the 'function' field for the button)

    Make sure you read that whole thread from this is gav posted - in partcular my post on it here: http://resource.dopus.com/viewtopic.php?p=41627#p41627 - the first post doesn't work with the current version of teracopy. TBH teracopy is only useful when you need to queue operations to stop disk thrashing, otherwise just use the built in copy. I often use it to move large media files to my HTPC from my office for example.

    How to: Create a new Button
    ======================

    1. Right click on some whitespace in the toolbar of opus and choose "customize.."
    2. Dialog opens, just ignore it for now
    3. Right click on the toolbar you want to add the button to, and choose "New->New Button"
    4. Edit the button - add an icon, name it, add a tooltip and then a function - e.g.

    5. "OK" the button dialog
    6. "OK" the preferences dialog that opened earlier

    That did it. I did look in there before but missed (or misunderstood) the location part.

    Re: Directory Opus help thread

    Am I right in thinking I should be able to preview all sorts of files by default without opening them?

    I don't want it to preview on double click - I want that to launch the file properly, so how do you preview without using that function?

    If that makes any sense

    Re: Directory Opus help thread

    And is there a batch file/folder renaming function of some kind?

    EDIT: Okay, found that. Can I queue commands somehow to make it a touch more useful? I would ideally like to click a button, and then the folder open in the window is searched for all files and folders, then the advanced rename window appears. But it's completely beyond me
