    It won't run on XP, will it? That could be a relief, as doubtless it's big and cumbersome cf IE6.

    I once tried IE7 and it slowed everything, so went back to IE6. A week ago I installed IE8 (just for some associated updates) and it seems OK re. OS and app. speed.

    In all cases, IE is blocked by the firewall and I use Opera or, if necessary Pale Moon (FF).

    IE8 will benefit from dual and quad cores because each tab is a separate process.

    Nope, it will not be XP compatible. The test platform will be updated every 8 weeks, so stay tuned for updates.
