Active desktop in XP
Hi
Everytime I restart my laptop or start it up after shutting it down I get the active desktop recovery thing coming up. I've never experienced this in XP before and I'm not sure of what to do. I don't particularly care about the active desktop, my background is jsut plain black with no icons anyway. Can anyone tell me how to fix/turn off the active desktop, preferably without re-installing windows.
Any help appreciated

Right click desktop, properties, desktop, customise desktop, web.
Make sure you've nothing ticked.

Yeah i done that, still happens :( If i remeber correctly there used to be a Run -> "command" that uninstalled it for ME (Much like the one that gets rid of Windows Messenger in XP) I was wondering if thats still around in xp and if anyone knows what it is.

does it shut down properly?

It used to do everything properly except keep the active desktop, not a problem anmore, formatted the SOB yesterday and split the HHD into 2 10Gb sections and reinstalled XP, working fine now, and i got a space for my files :)
(I like things organised, my main PC is up to Drive J for XP with another 2 sections for linux...)
