Advice please - Win 7 RC to Retail version

    Hi all

This might be a silly question but..............

I have been using the RC version of Windows 7 and have finally got round to getting a retail copy. I am planning on installing the 64 bit version, but the RC version was the 32 bit one. Does this mean I will be unable to use the back up option to install all the files I have on the PC at the moment and had planned to re install onto the PC after the clean install, or does it not matter?

One of the reasons (actually the main one) is that I have quite a few steam games installed on the PC at the mo, and don't fancy having to download them all again once the Win 7 Proper is on.

Any advice on this would be much appreciated!

    Cheers!

If you back up the files on another drive it should be fine, although ideally for things like programs and games its best to do a clean install.

The exception (for me anyway) is steam - everytime I do a clean install I just backup the whole steam folder to another drive. Then I install steam, and merge the two folders together. Occasionally you have to 'verify game cache' or something but usually its fine.
