Mmmm, looks interesting. Just reading up on wegotserved.

Hopefully the OEMs will make it fairly easy to upgrade, but who knows :/

You'll need it to be atleast 160GB, according to the specs. Might aswell skip the VM and dig out an old machine.

I wouldn't reinstall your server with this... wouldn't be a lot of fun if you uncovered the infamous Vail "Format Data Pool" bug

Re: Windows Home Server V2 - code name "Vail" public preview

Just installed this yesterday on a spare box. My WHS has gone a bit screwey so I was thinking I might run off this for a while.

First impressions are good, based on 2008r2 (good) although it means you do need a 64bit processor, so you can't run it on really old hardware if you just want to test and fiddle with it.

Does anyone know of any addins for it yet? I haven't really started to look at what works on it yet that I already use.

Funkstar, do you know if Squeezebox server will work on this? (the addin that is).

None of the old add-ins work, have to be designed completely from scratch - so I'd be very surprised if there were any available already.

I was afraid of that, oh well. Good chance to start having a look at what can be done though.

Will just have to properly sort my WHS v1 then. Just never seem to find the time.

SBS will certainly be available for it once it becomes final.

I think I saw a thread about WHS v2 on the SD forums recently, so they will be aware of it, someone may well be getting a package put together already, I would check the nightly builds every so often to see.

Re: Windows Home Server V2 - code name "Vail" public preview

Signed up to this, have downloaded the ISOs, etc but my new-build home server box (OK, bodged together collections of spare bits masquerading as a home server box) isn't yet ready for installation - minor matter of a shortage of suitable RAM without pillaging it from another system.

    Anybody got any first impressions?

Out of curiosity, could you dual boot this through Bootcamp on a Mac Mini?

Probably could do, but I wouldn't... WHS tends to like monopolising all the hard drives it can get its hands on, and that method tends to work best.
