Possible to restrict sound output to headphone socket only?

Anyone know a way i can stop students in my school from using the PC speakers (built in to the case) but still use headphones?

Do to some "issues" people are having, I have had to disable the audio device in device manager but would like to let people use headphones when needed.

    Any idea's?

Using XP SP3 and cheap on board sound.

Just disable the speakers rather than everything ?
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

Thats what i wanted, but cant see any way to do this that cant be reversed by the user. Wanted a something an Admin account holder would have total control of.

Well surely you can set it so that only the front panel outputs sound? The back and rest disabled?

Re: Possible to restrict sound output to headphone socket only?

Should be able to change the default in the windows sound options to the front ports, beyond that it would be down to the soundcard's drivers I think, cant think of any way of doing it just via the XP sound options. Doesn't stop the little rascals switching it back though.

Can you take the side off the machines? If so the internal speakers should just be wired to a header on the mother board. Should be able to disconnect it no problem. Of course if for some reason you wanted to use the speakers again you'd have to go back in, but it's a pretty fool proof way of keeping them off.

Use a 3.5mm > 3.5mm adapter glued in, PC thinks headphones are plgged in & won't output to the speakers whereas headphones will still work?..
