'Microsoft X-Box 360 Accessories Driver For Linux'?

I recently downloaded Ubuntu cauz I've heard of how great it could be and i got most of my needs met(programs i wanted running) though things that are microsoft are getting particularly annoying, I cant download windows live messenger(but i can deal with that)
I got Xpadder to work fine, tho I need the comp to recognize my wireless controller, and for that i need the driver listed in my title(of this thread) above and it just says 'an unexpected error occured'
I was just wondering if any of you guys have some idea of how to get it to work(maybe a different driver idk =/) I'd hate to be so close to getting it perfect to have it ruined by my controller not being able to connect, Thnx alot!!, I appreciate it
and if anyone knows how to get a game like Bad Company 2 to work, i need that too
    thnx again

I'm confused. I just plugged in my 360 pad, and it worked out of the box:

    Code:
[ 587.505040] usb 1-5.1.4: new full speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 8
    [ 587.619960] usb 1-5.1.4: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
    [ 587.661627] Registered led device: xpad0
    [ 587.661705] input: Microsoft X-Box 360 pad as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1a.7/usb1/1-5/1-5.1/1-5.1.4/1-5.1.4:1.0/input/input8
[ 587.661823] usbcore: registered new interface driver xpad
    [ 587.661826] xpad: X-Box pad driver
Even rumble works out of the box, for stuff that supports it

and if anyone knows how to get a game like Bad Company 2 to work, i need that too
    thnx again

I'd be surprised if it was much different at a driver level.

Especially since the driver source code mentions it:

    Code:
            { 0x045e, 0x0719, "Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver", MAP_DPAD_TO_BUTTONS, XTYPE_XBOX360W },
But are you saying that it would work if i connected it to the PC with the 'plug and play wire'??(for 360)
No. The plug & play wire is for charging only. It does not send any data when plugged in

Short version: running very new Windows-only games in Linux is difficult, requiring a high degree of technical knowledge - and you're unlikely to be able to do it. Use Windows for Windows games.

You cannot connect the xbox 360 wireless controller to a PC using 'wireless' hardware within the PC.

You need the 'crossfire' wireless reciever as it is called to allow the PC and gamepad to communicate with each other.
