Thanks, didn't spot that. Flash is a terrible format for video, especially HD so I'd be glad to see the back of it in place of a 'proper' codec i.e. one that will actually run on older hardware and not max out even some modern CPUs while playing HD. On a side note it could cut global power consumption if you think about it, lower CPU utilisation drops power consumption and I reckon it would make more of a difference that loads of the stupid energy saving tips you see printed everywhere, especially considering how popular sites like Youtube are. And of course not having to use a third-party plugin is nice especially considering how many security holes have been discovered in flash and it would make it more compatible/open, two examples of why that's good are it will allow iPods and whatever use sites like Youtube again and Linux users won't have to put up with the slow Linux flash port. Also maybe this will encourage advertisers to use static banner ads rather than the dreadful, resource-hogging, browser-crashing, distracting, animated flash ads if flash loses popularity?

I have just tryed html5 webm using opera lab's snapshot and lastest chrome daily build. works great!
you do need to go to www.youtube.com/html5 and click on the enable button

Yes, Flash is bad. Opera will soak up 90%+ of RAM if running too much Flash (I have some sites that have streaming Flash and can be saved only by running the vids. then retrieving them from Cache (was worse: was WMP and that's not allowed here)).

Sooner Adobe goes, the better.
