    Mp3 player reccomendation

Right, my girlfriend is down in London right now and itching to spend some money on an mp3 player in Selfridges.

    I need a reccomendation.

Currently she has an ipod nano 8gb but the major problem with that is basically itunes and faffing about whenever I want to add some of my music to her ipod. She wants a new one anyway so the simple solution is to go the notanipod route.

so get suggesting, ideally it should be around £100 witha nice interface and no messing about with any software to get tunes on, we want drag and drop.

    thanks in advance

EDIT : how the hell did I manage to post that in here??? Supposed to be in the shopping sub forum, any chance a mod can move it pelase?

    Re: Mp3 player reccomendation

If she is happy with the 8GB size then you could look at the Sansa Clip or the new Sansa Clip+ which allows micro sd cards to be plugged into it to add to their 8GB. It's a drag and drop system so no faffing about with software to get the music on there. Had mine 2 years now and I still get 4 days+ out of the battery, you charge it through a normal mini usb cable so always easy to charge whilst at work etc.

Sony Walkman. Best sound quality by miles, you should be able to get 16gb versions that can play the likes of iplayer downloaded shows offline etc. Might even be able to squeeze one that comes with active noise cancelling as well.

Another vote for something Sony, you wont even come close to spending £100, there are lovely players to be had for around £70.

    Re: Mp3 player reccomendation

Havent tried a ypr1, but have a ypr0 turning up at the end of the week, picked up a 16gig one for £50 on amazon. There is a well supported section on the anythingbutipod forums for the samsungs, an official firmware trouble shooter is resident on the forum. main reason i went with the ypr0 was good comments on sound quality, supported file types, and price (16 Gig for £50). I will be trying them with a large set of sennheiser headphones and a headphone amp. Really after audio quality rather than anything else.

    Re: Mp3 player reccomendation

Rather than a new mp3, have your tried Sharepod? It allows drag and drop to transfer music to/from an ipod. and can be run from the ipod itself so you dont need to install in on every computer prior to use.

I find it a neat little solution! HTH

    Re: Mp3 player reccomendation

My vote goes to the Sony Walkman range, excellent sound quality and you normally get some pretty decent earphones built in. I always favoured their sonicstage software over itunes, it just felt easier to use and was much more customisable.

    good deal here

If your girlfriend is dead set on Apple may I suggest trying some software called Floola? It works like itunes but it means you'rs not limited to only having one apple device synced to your computer?

    Re: Mp3 player reccomendation

I love my Sansa Fuze running FLAC and powerful enough to push my Triple.Fi
Comes with 8GB and you expand it to 24GB with extra MicroSDHC. All in with the 16GB card is just 60 quids.
Leaving you 40 quids for a half decent pair of earbuds compared to the crap Apple ship with (given how much it cost over any other PMPs).

You still get the wheel like the ipod only not touch sensitive.
