What is the box doing that is so important it runs SCO unix? The people who sue Linux and lost, the Unix everyone hates! The problem with many unixes and sendmail is they only provide compiled sendmail config files. There is meta config you have do with m4 to generate configs that do things like envelope rewriting etc.... The thing you might be looking for is the smart relay which takes all post not locally delivered.

Personally In think Exim is a much better MTA, its config file works out of the box and is quite logical to setup, allowing multiple delivery options of emails if one fails to deliver it goes on to the next one, great if you need @somedomain.com arriving on different servers... yes sendmail CAN do it... but does anyone know how... who is less than a sendmail god?

    Re: Unix Mail Client

the fact that everyone hates sco adds no value to this, and the fact that sendmail is a more complex mta doesn't really change the fact that he's running sco and based on his experience and earlier comments would stuggle to get exim or postfix on the machine and configure it as sendmail and disable sendmail.

without being harsh, from what you're saying about your experience you may do well to hire a unix professional for a day to help walk this through this through with you as configuring sendmail blind is hard, but configuring it blind when you don't know how it's currently configured or without an understanding of the network layout would be quite tricky.

That said if you can post your sendmail.cf file (and sendmail.mc if you have them) - make sure you check if you're allowed to do this with your company secuirty we may be able to move it forward.

just to re-state, before you post anything on the interenet make sure your company is happy for you to do this.

Also check out this - it may give you a few helpful hints and locations going forward.

    Re: Unix Mail Client

If you do a ls -alF on the file your probably find that 2 of them are links, lets just take the one from /usr/lib.

    Re: Unix Mail Client

You could output it to the screen using.

    cat sendmail.cf

However if you are this unsure about UNIX, I am not sure you should try doing any changes to it.
