    Music Metabrowser?

    Hey all,

My music archive has gotten in something of a mess in recent times, and a lot of it is now missing album art and / proper id3 tags.
Is there any decent software which can detect with relative inteligence what iv got, and then embedded both the album art and id3 data into the mp3 files themselves?
Everything iv tried so far has extremely limited success.

    Thanks!

I've had relative success with Mediamonkey but make sure you check all the options before you let it run wild

Songbird has a pretty good metadata editing mode. IIRC it won't automate much except the album art (which will still need checking, it's not perfect) but it will allow you to manually edit multiple files at once so you can add album names and artist very quickly.

    Re: Music Metabrowser?

I use tag&rename, it grabs IDs from any one of about 5 different places, and can do multiple field sorts and renames. Excellent. I coudldnt have organised my 23,000 odd tracks without it.

    Re: Music Metabrowser?

Update - Just wanted to quickly thank g8ina for suggesting tag&rename - was exactly what I was after and has successfully retagged all my mp3s, embedded the correct album art, and renamed all my tracks to the same format (track number - song name for single artist albums, or artist - song name for compilations)... thats for just over 400 albums.

    Thanks!

    Re: Music Metabrowser?

I used to use tag & rename, and it's a great prog. I now use musicbrainz picard which is awesome.
Picks up multiple CD albums(eg dance compilations) a lot better than T&R
I do know everything, just not all at once. It's a virtual memory problem.
