About LinkBacksI am been getting this problem on my Centrino laptop, where the CPU usage of Winamp will easily go to 70 or 80% when playing. I've tried the hardware acceleration options, and I don't get this problem in Windows Media Player.
Any ideas?

What output plugin are you using? And how is it configured?

DirectSound. Hardware acceleration disabled (makes no difference).
Have you tried the wave out plugin? Is that even in winamp 5? I can't remember.

options --> preferences --> classic skins --> visualization refresh rate?
options --> preferences --> modern skins --> Timers resolution?
Personally, i think it may be the timers resolution.
