Opera 10.6 has just been released!
Awesome!
Looking forward to trying that at home![]()
I've been really surprised at this version - so much so that thanks to the speed improvements with Google Mail, I've been recommending others give it a try.
Due to the customisation and 'clean' zoom-in of the screen (leaving images alone), Firefox remains my main browser. Opera's always nearby, though and has been used even more than usual now that it has highlighted yet further how sluggish GMail really is within Firefox.
Oh, that's on an Athlon 2500+, by the way. It may be just a little different for those of you with your new-fangled multi-cores and all those gigahertz...![]()
Firefox really needs to get their act together on the speed issues...
Agreed i was an avid firefox user and always promoted it. But then it got really sluggish, took yonks to load (with only 2-3 plugins)... Switched to Google Chrome and havent looked back. Got all the same plugins, it looks cleaner has a far smaller footprint and is incredibly fast and efficient.
If this desktop Opera build is anything like the new releases for mobiles then it will be good.
HI
great news! I am using Opera on my Desktop PC and Cell Phone as well. The speed dial option works awesome.

Jeremy
I really love Opera, and I do use it as my second choice browsers, but there are some Firefox extensions that I just couldnt live without that dont have any equivalents
Using 10.6 right now, some quite nice improvements and 10.5 was already good!
10.61 RC is out:

Been using Opera 10.60 for the past 2 weeks. It's such a complete browser and doesn't have any of the flaws of Firefox so I completely switched. As a vanilla installation it includes a LOT more than what Firefox offers.

Anyone know of good resources for Opera extensions?
I know there aren't as many as with FF, but there should be some that are of use. I had one that did spell checking before they added that as a standard feature in 10.0.
Opera doesn't have extensions. They use Widgets: http://www.opera.com/addons/
