Cool PPD per graphics card/Processing core

Just a quick one for you guys out there, how many points per day do you get approximately from each of your GPU or CPU folding cores

    A starter for 10

    GTX 480 W/C @ 800/1600/2000 10,200 - 14,000 on Win 7 64bit Ultimate
    GTX 295 W/C @ 630/1358/1100 5,800 - 7,000 on Win 7 64bit Home (Only folding on 1 at the mo - Help!)
    GTX 285 Air @ 666/1516/1256 6,500 - 9,400 on XP Pro 32 bit SP3

Re: PPD per graphics card/Processing core

Well, maybe this is OK, but there's a huge database already compiled:

    CPU:
    http://www.overclock.net/overclock-n...-database.html
    GPU:
    http://www.overclock.net/overclock-n...-database.html

Maybe we'd just provide a link into this in the sticky or something?

Re: PPD per graphics card/Processing core

Thanks - that's exactly what I was looking for. There's some VERY high figures in there for most of the cards which I've got leaving me feeling like I'm running somewhat below par. No idea why that would be as they are running only marginally quicker clocks than mine.

Re: PPD per graphics card/Processing core

Yea those PPD's do look high. In the limited time that my i5 750 was running, it was running at perhaps a tenth of the PPD than what the spreadsheet would lead me to expect.

Also, how does ticking the "allow work units >10MB" effect PPD?

Maybe you haven't set up the SMP client properly? Are you running SMP at all?

Not at the moment. Most of the options I checked when installing it were the default ones and I made sure I did the -smp tag, Windows task manager said all 4 cores were maxed out. Either way, I find it annoying to have to have a passworded account to be able to run it.

I would have the smp client running but the need to have a password tipped me over the edge and so i don't use it

You do know that it's possible to set the account so you don't have to type the password on log on, right?

Re: PPD per graphics card/Processing core

Ive just been reading HERE and it appears that there some sort of bonus point scheme that's locked into F@H, but that you need to have a passkey set up. Have I understood this correctly?

Ths might explain why the other database has higher points per user than I am seeing...

Could just be that their machines are highly optimised for folding whereas mine's a file server etc etc as well

Yup, that's right. Bonus is given after you complete 10 SMP (or GPU, IIRC) WUs with a passkey. It increases your PPD nicely, absolutely worth it (well, at least no reason not to).

Re: PPD per graphics card/Processing core

I've added a passkey to all my clients, so we'll see how this cugs along now. Might have a go at some of the Bigadv projects that are out there next, especially not that the weather's cooled down a bit. My room was constantly @ 30+°C so it's been a bit too hot for comfort lately.

My homebrewing has been going great guns though. This warm environment has made me the proud owner of LOTS of bottles of home brewed Yorkshire Bitter.

Passkey set up on both my GPU and uniprocessor clients. I'll be interested to see how much the bonus is worth.

Re: PPD per graphics card/Processing core

Passkey is only really important for the SMP client.

For the other clients its only used as a unique identifier incase someone would pretend to be you and cheat or something.

For the SMP client it is required for the bonus system, which dramatically increases the PPD of the SMP client, Using HFM.net as a predictor, the use of a passkey approximately tripled my PPD on the SMP client.

Ah I see. Still too hot for me to run GPU + SMP and the lack of handy pause button in the sys tray annoys me. I'll have to see about just running it at night, then.

The GPU client has a pause work option on right clicking, and the smp console window can just be closed when you want to pause it, it will save and restart where it left off on next running.
