cant access visual svn using tortois

Hi i tried visual SVN but i cant access it remotely from work. It keeps giving me an errors saying something like error:Repositry moved permanently to https://xxxxxx/svn please relocate

on my visual svn app at home, the url is https://xxxxx:8080/svn

i tried https://xxxxxx/svn and it could not find the repositry at all whilst the default one looked as if it was doing something but came up with that strange error.

Also, i do enter my static ip address in the "xxxxxx" instead of using the local host name of the pc running the visual svn server?

my local svn name is the name of my pc.

edit: tried it locally on the browser it worked but on tortois it doesnt??? At work same thing. works on my browser but not in tortois.

Re: cant access visual svn using tortois

could be a discrepancy between LAN and WAN IPs, accessing it outside your LAN etc. I haven't used VisualSVN though so I dunno what could be causing it.

Accessing an SVN via a browser is actually accessing a webserver with a script or program that interprets SVN data into a HTML format. So a webserver only has to access the SVN locally.

If you have a friend who can help you test over IM and try seeing what settings may be the problem. But I have a feeling it thinks it's on an internal LAN IP and thus isn't accepting access via an external WAN IP. NATs are a PITA like that.

Anyways yea i fixed it lads. was using the wrong link. had to directly use the link of a actual repository, not the svn route so i used https://xxxxx/svn/repositoryName and that did the trick.
