I... what is the exact error, and at what point do you get this error (a screenshot may be handy)? Which OS? Which version of Lightroom?
hi its lr2 win 7 ultimate upgrade, can you tell me how to do a screen shot on a pc?
thanks

press "Prt Scrn", then open Paint and paste. Save file, upload to Imageshack or some other image hosting site and then link to it in your post.
Without the actual error message and point that it occurs we're going to struggle to help though.
or windows 7 has the snipping tool which makes grabbing stuff even easier. Heck you could even use the Problem Step recorder to get a friendly output.
hi guys coudnt get the print screen to work anyway this is the full message:-
the installation package could not be opened
verify the package exists and that you can access it
or contact the vendor to verify this is a valid windows installer package
Usually means a corrupt installer. Are you installing from a disc or a downloaded installer?
from disk but i also tried the adobe site and it said the same thing!
Sounds more like a corrupt file somewhere on your PC then. Can you try either the download or the disc on another system ?
I would definitely follow the advice already given about it being a corrupt installer but, if that doesn't work, this can also be the vague error that Windows 7 gives whilst trying to install something without having the right admin privileges.
I've had sucess with getting around this by enabling the actual administrator account and using this to install the program.
Open up a command prompt (Start menu > Run > "cmd") and enter:
net user administrator /active:yes
Then log out and log back into the Administrator account. Run the installer from there to see if it makes a difference. Once you're finished (whether it works or not) remember to disable it again from your normal account.
net user administrator /active:no
