Novell 6.5 accessing files on Server2008

    Hi,

I have a Novell 6.5 server and a NAS running Windows Storage Server 2008. I need the novell server to be able to see the NAS. I believe you can use CIFS or NFS, but I have no idea how to set this up. There's lots of stuff about moving files from novell to s2008, but not the other way round. This need to be a permanent setup, almost like having the NAS as a volume on the Novell, rather than a one off file dump.

Anyone any idea if a) it's possible and b) pratical?

    Thanks

    Best thing to do?

Probably get rid of the out of date software

As a tip, look for allowing NTLM and NTLM v2 authentication on the 2008 server, disabling encryption on SMB for the 2008 server and disabling require SMB signing.
Most cr@p, out of date software needs that to connect to Windows server 2008.

Thanks, and I would love to chuck it out but the powers that be have decided that it's staying, so I have to work around that...

I feel your pain, brother. Some people just believe in train crashes.

In that situation I usually just point blank tell them it will not work, never say it might or it could.

Yeah, this is one of those cases where I wish I'd just said no, you can't at the beginning. Now that £30k of kit has been delivered, I just have to make it work...

Netware 6.5 is EOL. You want to setup/migrate to Novell OES-Linux (SLES 10 or 11)

    Shoestring IT?
Been there, done that. You're probably better off fighting your corner and getting them to open the purse strings.
