    tcp/ip error

On a friends computer after reinstalling Winxp im trying to reconnect to the internet using the internet providers disc.
During the installation i get the message tcp/ip error ive down loaded all the motherboard drivers and still get the same message.
Ive run the network diagnosticsprogram in windows help.
Itreads outbound mail server failed, unable to connect to smtp port 25.
Any help with this problem would be appreciated jhad.
