    Underclock GPU (nVidia)

I've got some thermal issues on my HTTPC so I figure dropping the GPU down a bit might help.

Anyone know good tool for this, want it to run on startup, every startup.

    MSI afterburner.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

Rivatuner. Whats your card? A software undervolt may work wonders.

    Re: Underclock GPU (nVidia)

I second rivatuner, but you'll need a last generation or older card. There is supposed to be a newer version (2.25) in the works, but it may never see the light of day. The only reason I've not upgraded my gfx card is the stupid dynamic profiles on the latest nv and ati cards. In my experience, the clock frequency has no impact on media playback and my ati 4770 will happily play 1080p while massively underclocked.

MSI afterburner will not allow you to underclock properly. It can be done if you underclock in another application first, but that defeats the purpose of using it.

Remove the side/top panel? Unless you've got a jet engine blowing through, open air is always cooler ime.

Perhaps not an option if this is a HTPC in a living room and needs to look good as well as perform its task well.

    its passively cooled.

The other night my bedroom was quite warm and it cut out whilst playing some 720p content. We had to find another activity to do......

    Re: Underclock GPU (nVidia)

There was a reason why the room was already warm, I don't exactly have the heating on in the summer.

And anything more than 3 times in one night is just decadent.
