    power point

When i try to open a power point document i get the message.
Power Point couldn't open this file because no file converter for this file is installed.
I can open other power point files.

    Re: power point

I have the same issue on my Windows 7 work laptop. It has Office 2003 installed and never had the problem when it was running XP.

I create a PowerPoint (Windows 7, Office 2003) save it, close it and then when I try to open it I get the same error. It does not happen all the time but seems to happen if the file has animations or pictures embedded in it. You may be able to save some of the PowerPoint by opening it with OpenOffice but my experience has taught me most of the PowerPoint will be dead. Incidentally the PowerPoint will not open on a different computer running Office 2007 either (for me).

The other weird thing is when I create a file in Office 2007 or in 2003 on an XP machine if there is a picture on the first slide the preview will show up on my Windows 7 machine but if I make a small change and save it the preview disappears (Windows 7, Office 2003).

Sorry I cannot offer any solutions other than try OpenOffice (can get the portable version so no install).
