Board is £100 with 2 PCI lanes
1055T is £150
Leaves us with £50 for 2 GTX 460s
I'll go for the 1055T and the GTX460 for now, will net me nice ppd and I can always upgrade to a new board later. Might go for a bit of a stupid OCing session on this CPU before I get rid of it

Nah, just gone for the GTX 460 1gb OC edition as it's only £138 on scan. Can't afford to do a rebuild now anyway and I can't really be bothered anyway. Thanks though.
You said you don't play many games, and that the 9800 did what you play well enough, so I would suggest canceling that order and getting a 768mb one, not only are they cheaper, but you have a little less heat generated as it is missing the extra rops, and memory chips and there is no real difference when it comes to folding.Originally Posted by nibbler

I do game a bit, and i've seen evidence that it does make a difference, I'll stick with my choice tbh, just cause runs like a dog and the extra frame buffer and bandwidth helps on that.
Well, I've stopped folding on my 8400GS after installing the same client on Kali and finding out that she folds about 10 times faster despite only drawing ~ twice the power. Personally I blame the power hungry Pentium 4 in the other rig: if I could switch that out for some low power components I might fold on it again. For now though, I'll just donate occasional points from a stock 8800GTX. Shame though, I loved the idea of my heavily OCed 8400 churning away for all it's worth...

Well, it's currently working on a 587point unit and it'll take at least 30 hours by my estimation. I've pulled down fahmon but it's not showing a ppd on either computer - is that normal? where does it get the estimate from?
It calculates it doesn't it? 3 frames is all it needs. Multiply average time for a frame by 100 to get average time for a WU, divide 24 hours by the time for 1 WU to find out how many units per day, then multiply that by the credit for 1 unit?
Sounds right to me, but it's not showing the ppd: just 0.00*
Anyone know what the * means?

Hmmm, when the row is highlighted the status shows green, but when I unhighlight the row the status shows yellow. The client's definitely running though: and fahmon shoul dhave access to all of its files. Perhaps I need to go back and rtfm

Dunno, you just point it to the log files, try running it as admin too, needs to be done sometimes.
What client is it? Terbinator had a similar issue and it was to do with him running th exec from the start menu rather than from a shortcut, could that be it?

I'm still thinking that if its at least let you add them your just giving it long enough to refresh in fahmon?
