for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
I think if you use dual monitors and use overdrive, then the card doesnt downclock. But if you are running stock, it downclocks fine. At least that is how it seems on my 5850 on dual mons!
Hi Kids.
Back from the Domincan Republic. Today's been a 27 hour day so far culminating in a 5 hour drive from Gatwick back to Liverpool, and it's back to work for me tomorrow
I've also got some electrical work going on in the house still (and for another 2 weeks) but am able to run one of my rigs again.
Back to business. Have I missed much? Looks like people are still having fun with the new client. Any one posted a living work log on the new client?
I'm skipping doing the stats this month as I'll be working away a lot and I've also got a partial rewire to contend with which will limit my access to my room.
Full update for both months will be done at the end of May.

First bigadv has not long finished. Waiting for it to register the points....

Yay! Points now registered. I've also turned on my media server, but only to run smp units at stock speeds - I rebuilt and moved the GPU from the top PEG slot on the mobo to the next one down, and have had nothing but problems with it since with driver crashes.
I've started assembling my RIIE board ready to test and ultimately swap it out with the P6T that's currently in situ, - the P6T will then become my test rig.
I'll the have a crack at re-plumbing the main rig as the board is laid out slightly differently and I have an X58 Waterblock on the RIIE but not on the P6T.
I have proof of concept/confidence that the w/c layout works and that the flow rate is "appropriate" - so I'm looking forward to getting the main rig up and running! Hopefully it'll be:
RIIE + X58 W/B
i7 970 @ 4.3+ Ghz - Water Cooled
12GB Corsair 1600 Ram - Air cooled.
1xGTX 295 (leading to 2 ultimately) - Water cooled
1x300Gb Hitachi deskstar OS drive
5x1Tb Hitatchi Deskstar drives Raid 5 storage array
1 ATA Optical drive
Water loop:
1xDrive bay XSPC res
DDC 10W Pump
1.120 Phobya double width rad, fan in push
Swiftech Apogee GTZ CPU block
EK X58 block
1.120 Black Ice Rad with fan in push
GTX 295 with EK block (dual "card" sandwiched version)
DDC 18W Pump
2.120 Swiftech rad with 2x fans in push
then back to the res...
One pump didn't seem quite enough, plus as this is a 24/7 rig I wanted to ensure that flow is guaranteed - I've had a pump seize on me and thankfully been in the room when all the alarms start ringing and then it shuts down. A scary moment believe me - this will work with any one of those pumps, but it works better with 2.
I'll update my readers rigs pics once the works done. I intend to do a living review type article and document the test/build of the rig/software so that there's a full guide from build to optimisation stored over here. There's a lot of fragmented information on here from all the articles that we've posted, but nothing that pulls it all together.
It's good to be back. I'm sticking with Folding@home as opposed to the paid one as my kit is geared toward folding, and my original reason for getting into it was that it appealed as I lost my Gran to Altzeimers - it wasn't nice, so anything I can do is all for the better. I like to think of it as investing in my future also.....

I've been absent for a while due to cooling issues and not really having time to monitor my rig.
However, I'm back and have one of these: http://www.cubitek.com/products/chas.../features.html
Picked it up for £130 second hand and it has ample cooling Now, as i'm only running the SMP client, would i be best with a balls-to-the wall overclock without HTT or a slower clock with HTT. I read on the F@H site/forums that as it only really uses the execution cores there is no loss/gain from having HTT enabled/disabled - the only difference being more heat.
Thoughts?

RE: Case - a thing of beauty, and big enough for an SR-2. Blimey! That's got water cooling and modding written all over it!
RE: Folding, the difference with the core is that you need 6 registered to do BIGADV. Personally I'd do HT on and fold BIGADV if the rigs going to be on 24/7.
An approximate comparison for you:
My 980X at stock will produce 15k ppd with 12 threads running SMP.
It does 12k with 6 threads at stock.
When running BIGADV at the same speed with 12 threads I return 20k+ ppd again, at stock.
When overclocked to 4.3Ghz it knocks out 43k+ ppd (1Ghz overclock)
figures are with 2 GPU clients also running simultaneously, but not included in the scores shown.
You are mostly correct in your statement - Doubling the cores by enabling HT is not a straight doubling of the performance - I see 25-40% gains depending on the application/time of day etc. It;s usually a gain though, and in the case of folding, it's a significant gain IMHO.

The CPU is in my system profile btw.
I wont be running BIGADV as i don't have the box on 24 hours, but usually its on for around ~12 hours a day so i don't mind trying to burn off a SMP unit every now and then.
