It could be that your 2600K just runs hot. I've had 980X's that do, but so far neither of my 2600K's do... Titan Fenrir with one fan on low revs just about copes at 70-75C so I'd have thought that the Corsair unit would easily.

Stupid question, but the fans are blowing in the same direction....
    lol, yes.

Antec 1200 Case. all 3 hard drive fans blowing into the case, another 120mm fan on the side window blowing into the case, H60 push/pull fan blowing out of the case (both fans checked), top rear exhaust fan blowing out of case, top 240mm fan blowing out of the case.

Kit looks ok. Guess I would need to add in a further two full body 6870 water blocks and further tubing. Just depends if the triple rad would be enough to cool the whole lot or if further rads are required and then if the pump can keep up.

Second issue is space. I already have one of the biggest cases and as you can see from the pics, I doubt it would be able to fit any of the watercooling parts inside it. Not sure what the answer is to that.

Sorry but you'll have to point me towards Jim's comments

As I understand it the GPU client cannot be run as a service in Win 7. When run in the sys tray it will close each time you switch users but each user will have to have a different FaH setup as the data is stored in the Users own dir's.

    Hopefully Jim knows better!

Sad to say I think you're right, but I'd have to investigate further to be sure: I've only looked into running the CPU client as a service so far (since my servers have some crappy Matrox 2D graphics rather than actual graphics cards ). It might be that you could persuade an older version of the GPU client to run as a service...

.... The older versions don't support Fermi. Think the first to was 6.2X....

Swiftech make a mounting unit to mount Radiators externally.

You could probably mount one 2xrad in the roof, one 2xrad at the back where you have the fan/H70 mounted. If the hard drives were all shunted up one bay it looks like you could squeeze another 2.120 radiator in the based. That gives you 6x120mm fans/rads cooling capability, which should be adequate, but if you wanted more you could mount a further 3.120 or 4.120 to the rear OUTSIDE the case. It's not a particularly elegant solution though as you've snookered yourself with the case being so highly utlised.

Alternatively, you could use the front of the case and mount the rad where the fans are in front of the hard drives. You'd have to move the drives back SOMEHOW to make room to mount fans on them.

I did look at those. There is an option of mounting a 2.120 on the two rear 120mm fan spaces, and then a 3.120/4.120 on the external side on the 2.120 rad. Only issue there is where to fit the rest of the equipment.

I've been looking at creating an external radbox, to house 2 x 3.120 rads with 2 pumps and a decent sized reservoir.

That would just leave the waterblocks in the case which are easy to fit. Only issues I can see are how the loop would cope with going cpu>gpu1>gpu2 without going back to the radbox in-between and the cost of such a setup. Guess its going to be another £350-£400 project.

I think it is time for another thread anyway.

Shouldn't be much of an issue. Eventually your loop will settle out at a fairly stable temp: from memory you'll only get a couple of C difference between the water going into your rads and the water coming out.

I'm "about" (inverted commas because I've been about to for the last 9months!) to WC my Q6600 + 2 8800GTXs with a 3x120 rad, and my quick research (assisted by Gonz and others) suggests that I'll be looking at a 10C ambient:water temp difference. Given the 6870s should generate less heat that my 8800GTXs I don't think you'll have too much of a problem. I'll report back if I ever get the project finished...

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

    That's handy to know...

"to WC my Q6600 + 2 8800GTXs with a 3x120 rad, and my quick research (assisted by Gonz and others) suggests that I'll be looking at a 10C ambient:water temp differenc"

...as my media centre ITX board has an 8800 GTX and a Q6600. So as each 8800GTX is ~150W TDP I'll need at least a 2.120 rad. I've just decided that I'm going to start the build this Thursday when wifey goes out with her friend. Can't fold on my server at the moment as it's in bits waiting for a replacement board, so this would get my points back on track.... a bit...

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

Sabertooth update. Board is the faulty B2 batch, so is going back to Asus tomorrow. Unfortunately a replacement will be up to 3 weeks away

Down to only one folding machine until then. I'm more concerned about the 2tb of photos, movies, mp3's, docs etc that are on the ICH10 raid array, and backed up onto my 2tb drive. If that drive fails then I've no other way for to recover the data without buying an entirely new ICH10 based setup... Doh! I pray to the god of hard drives that nothing happens.....

Definitely have to get my ITX rig up and running now.

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

I haven;t got the adapter plate to mount my water block to the ITX S775 board, so have no way to cool it, hense no progress reported.

Poo! Think I'll take some photos and turn it into a mod log, in a couple of weeks when I've got some time again.

At the current rate I'll take second place from Lowe in 2.2 days. Finally getting that 2nd place back. Who;d have thought after 14 months, 18 million points that I'd overtake Lowe and STILL be in second place.

Just had the leccy bill in too. £500 over budget! Just as well we have overpaid by £500 on the gas!!!

    PHEW!

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

OK, a week or so after setting up folding as a service on my new reserve web server, I'm now pushing more than 6K ppd off a 45W processor - pretty happy with that level of efficiency 800K has just gone, so not too long off the million for me!

And we still haven't pushed the web sites to the new servers yet, so I should be able to keep them folding for a while

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

Nice one Jim. Do you have to leave a particular user logged on running this service?

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

Nope, you just run the exe with the -configonly flag, in the advance options tell it to install as a service, then go into Services and start the service. Then you can just log yourself out, and it tootles away to itself happily.

For some reason, the first unit it did as a service picked upa new userID and didn't generate bonus points, but from then on it ran fine. And it looks like I'm still getting lag on my PPD from before I started it, because I'm up to 7k 24 hours average now If I had the money I'd be buying one of these puppies today... *sigh*
