Sadly it's not going to last much longer - my contract ends at the end of March and my boss has given no indication that he's going to offer me an extension, so I won't have control of that server anymore

Looks like the fix for 803X units failing is to set your display to not turn itself off, tried it and my units are no longer failing.

Thats odd, are you using the V7 client, as there is a new version out now: 7.1.50, it is possible the older betas have an expiry date on them, the old command line betas did.
