What video editing software?
I'm in need a new video editing application - currently I use Premiere Elements 2 - it was great for my needs on XP and with SD footage, but it's unstable as anything on W7 and I'm looking to do HD editing from now on.
Ideally I'd like some form of ATI, sorry AMD Radeon supported graphics acceleration too and the ability to export in AVCHD format on DVD as well as Bluray. It also must be stable in W7! Budget = <£100
Anyone got any recommendations? Premiere Elements 9 is no good as it is still unstable in W7 and I don't think it has any AVCHD to DVD option. Cyberlink Powerdirector 8 Ultra seems to be good on paper - anyone used this before?
Re: What video editing software?
It might be a question better posed in the Operating systems & applications forum, one level up, rather then this Software and web development forum.
Re: What video editing software?
Sony Vegas Studio v10
you can at least download the demo from www.sonycreativesoftware.com and give it a whirl. I use the Pro version and have just upgraded to that v10, which has seen my AVCHD editing become smooooooooth as anything
:)
Re: What video editing software?
Yeah the Sony Vegas Studio is a good one, use it at work and once you get used to it, it's good for the job :) Pro version is just shy of £500 but if its just HD DVD's/Movies you are wanting to do you can get the Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum for just shy of £100 I think it is.
Re: What video editing software?
the v10 Platinum download version is US$94, so should be closer to GBP63 + vat :)
Amazon sometimes has it pretty cheap too
Re: What video editing software?
Yeah I was looking at the UK prices for the software on the sony site. Showing as £79.95ex vat for the download version:

Although as you say, look around and grab it from Amazon if you can, sometimes they pop up there 20 - 30 cheaper than Sony will sell it for :)
Re: What video editing software?
Thanks very much for the advice - it does look like a really good option. Do you know if it comes in a 64bit flavour like its more expensive brother?

Not sure, only got the Pro version here at work, not tried the Home Studio HD options etc. Try a demo there maybe a 64 bit installer option :)
