    Just a thought - if he wants *really* shiny then you might want to point him in the direction of hosted Exchange providers - a number of them provide packages where you get an Outlook license with their email packages. That way he gets Outlook Web Access email, calendaring, contacts AND Outlook for his machine. Of course this ain't free, but if he really wants all the functionality of Outlook it might be an option (especially if he likes shiny toys to play with)

    It's my one big issue with helping on here, which is that I know that in the real world I could be charging £50 an hour for the advice I give away here If he's got the money to spare then invoice him

    tbh, it's a shame he's already on blackberry because for what he wants to do gmail + android would be perfect...

    Not sure if the Windows E mail client (the freebie that replaced outlook express) will do sync with a Blackberry.

    There ARE ways of syncing a blackberry using something like funambol - but I don't really think you want to be doing that - it works - but its not intuitive.
