    Avg 2011?

AVG (free) is now hassling me every time I start my computer to upgrade. I wouldn't mind, but after downloading the installer it still wants to get another 130MB from the internet for the install - seems a bit heavy weight for my taste.

Anyone done the upgrade and does it become more intrusive/annoying than the current version? Happy to switch to a different (free) anti-virus as I'm going to go a re-install at some point soon.

Just grab Microsoft Security Essentials. It's one of the best things I've ever done for my PC, seriously!

    Re: Avg 2011?

    Microsoft Security Essentials.

The next version, currently in beta, will offer some excellent features in addition to the current non-bloated set.

    Re: Avg 2011?

I used to use AVG - but now Microsoft Security Essentials - much better.

If I suspect that something might be up then I go to pack.google.com and install Spyware Doctor (free edition), then after it has done it's check I uninstall it.

    Re: Avg 2011?

I was getting Mcafee for free from O2 but since I have just shifted to VM cable (moved to Cardiff and penarth exchange is rubbish )... bit confused as to what to switch to virus guard wise? I already have Spybot, spyware blaster and malware bytes at hand if I have any problems.

So what is the concensus? AVG, Avast, MS essentials other free or paid? (not a problem if I get piece of mind). What about firewalls... I've gotten a bit out of the loop with this stuff.
