Just a heads up for anyone that runs into a similar problem as I have on a user's machine this morning.
Turns out that KB2412171 (one of this Tuesday's Office 2007 updates) has broken this - simply uninstalling this through Control Panel has fixed it however.

Edit: This update also seems to be responsible for slow performance in some areas such as changing folders. Info here.
