Why do people buy Apple / OSX?

Its a slab of aluminum with a glowing logo in the back, the design is dated imo and hardly a work of art, Apple users have a funny and dull definition of art.

Actually, the Apple design dates extremely fast. Step into an Apple store with your Iphone 3 and ask a salesman what covers they sell for your precious Iphone 3. He'll look at you like you just stepped in carrying a turd... His colleagues will point at you and laugh, saying 'That device is so 2010'...

I presume you mean an iPhone 3G? That was released in July 11, 2008 (according to Wikipedia). Not really surprising given that there have been the 3GS, 4, 4S and 5 in the mean time. That's nearly 12 months before the original Samsung Galaxy. Many cases for that available in bricks and mortar shops now?

Have you read the recently leaked Apple training guide? (http://gizmodo.com/5938323/how-to-be...raining-manual).... I doubt they'd do that.... More likely they'd go through the Feel-Felt-Found routine, and you'll end up walking out with a new iPhone wondering if you've just been brainwashed.

Your peers however, that's a different pictures. They'll probably do as you've suggested if they're into Apple snobbery.

I buy Mac laptops because the trackpads are unrivalled in the Windows world. I wouldn't buy a desktop Mac though because I prefer to build my own machines.

Also why I can't keyboard navigate between instances of chrome session with cmd+tab. It's easier to not do the easy thing.

Obviously scrolling vast documents is easier to, because simply one should never need too. I forgot about that.

I use a mouse with my Macbook, Cant stand trackpads.

Dont mistake me for an Apple fan, my apple hatred is pretty widespread, just pointing out that the right click thing is a bit of a non-issue really. I couldnt answer about scrolling or many of the other things as i dont use a mac very often.

Well you can always use ctrl/cmd (can't remember which off the top of my head) click for right click, and scrolling works by dragging both fingers down the trackpad. Don't let that get in the way of a good Apple bashing though.

Don't know about Chrome as I'm working on a Win7 ThinkPad right now.

There are much better ones on even some cheaperish devices. Yes, better than average is probably true, but not at the pricepoint.

I dont believe it is and im yet to try one which i like more. Right click doesnt make up for the different in response, accuracy and the material which they are made of. I think OSX also seems to work better with the kind of acceleration and smoothing compared to my experience with windows laptops.

Its not about a work around, but if the work around is for something that you dont factor in as a requirement then its a non issue.

I would agree that if that is your only reason, its pretty stupid, but having the opinion that they have the best touchpads because out of all the ones you have tried, you find theirs the best, far from ignorent its just normal opinion making.

Personally i find attacking them for their lack of a dedicated right click on the touchpad ignorant. I have disabled the physical click on the main pad part of my lenovo one and just use multiple finger clicks. Personally i have found it put less stress on my hand as you never have to put any strain on your muscles.

Erm OK. Lets try something low end. Toshiba Ultrabook, cost about £500, have a keyboard from hell imsho, but the touchpad is incredibly acurate, has infinite scrolling (which I'm not sure what you've tried on to find anoying, but you can always use primative guestures if needed (ie two finger down or two finger up)).

Well that just goes against what I learnt about in haptics back at university. I would suggest if you feel any strain clicking but don't when moving a finger accurately seeking medical attention, you will probably require an MRI to see what you've broken, and what surgical options will be available to fix you. The NHS is duty bound to provide this, but you might have to twist their arm, if you forgive the pun.
