I have a NAS box on my network. It pulls down my home directory from my workstation (if it's switched on when the cronjob kicks in) and links it up using rsnapshot.
Now that's all good and well - works exactly how I want... EXCEPT, it seems if you connect using nautilus to SSH/SCP/SFTP/FTP sites, then the mounts are placed in $HOME/.gvfs
End result, my NAS box was trying to rsync, via my workstation, an entire HEXUS server.

So, if backing up your home directory, be sure to add .gvfs/* to your exclusion list!
