    ubuntu unity

    Hello,

I have tryed ubuntu alpha 3 in a virtual machine and as a live cd on my laptop.

I feel that ubuntu is becoming more macish each version.

icons to minimize, maximize and quit to the left hand side in ubuntu 10.04 or 10.10 cant remember which now.

ubuntu 11.04: 1. dock on the left hand side.
    2. if no programs are open there is a file menu, settings menu etc for nautilus.
    3. if a program if active those buttons which are normally for nautilus are replaced with the menus for the current program. what was wrong with having the menus on the title bar? When i have tryed osx I have always hated the top bar having the icons of the currently active program I find it confusing.

im sure there are other things that I havent noticed yet.

im sure canonical could be more original.

I would like to know you opinions of unity and the other changes ubuntu is making.

I sorta like the indicator stuff, but the whole menu-in-top-bar is definitely mactastic, and the whole left aligned window button thing is just stupid and annoying, they should have docked it on the right where people will expect it an have muscle memory to hit it. Using vanilla gnome on Gentoo these days.

I have sorta switched to debian squeeze with vanila gnome the only thing i cant get working properly is pulse audio.

tbh i dont use linux much due to the programs i use not working on linux but like to have some sort of linux as a dualboot to see how linux is shaping up.
