at least they'll have plenty of money to pay for their treatment.... :) Or a nice up to date GPU
Re: "Folding" for profit, not fun - Bitcoin
In a way though, it's not that big a deal. This is heavily engineered towards Radeons, whereas folding is focussed on CPUs and nVidia.
Re: "Folding" for profit, not fun - Bitcoin
Then why not put your radeon to use helping another branch of science, milkyway@home loves the massive dp performance of radeons.

I'm just pointing out that it's not necessarily a straight choice between this and folding.
Besides, if we're going along the moral road then milkyway doesn't really match folding.

Ooh, now's the time Raz. Someone buying 22 BTC for 1:£3.371 on britcoin. That's a pretty good rate
Re: "Folding" for profit, not fun - Bitcoin
Is this worth it with my Nvidia card?
Re: "Folding" for profit, not fun - Bitcoin
How exactly do I get this working with my 2 HD5830 cards? I've googled round a bit but most help seems to be for Linux machines and I'm running Win 7 x64.
So far I've got both cards in my PC set up with the latest drivers and ATI Stream 2.1, I don't have a crossfire bridge so crossfire is disabled. I've plugged the monitor into the first card and ran the KIV GUI, it connects fine and the MH/s is around 250. Under GPU-Z the first card is showing as under load so it's working fine.
I then plug the monitor into the second card, bring up another instance of the KIV GUI and run that, however I only have 2 devices - Cyprus and Intel Core 2 Duo. I run the mining under the same device and same worker (if I use a different worker I get around 10 MH/s) and GPU-Z shows both cards are now under full load and both KIV GUIs show around 250MH/s.
Is this correct? I'm guessing I'm doing it wrong but I can't get both cards to come up under the KIV GUI.
Here's a quick screenshot to try and illustrate my point: http://imgur.com/vuxUZ

From this your GTX 260 is roughly the speed of a HD 4670, if directhex says he gets 1.5BTC per day from 240MH/s, then you will get 0.25BTC per day from 40MH/s. This currently works out at 90p per day from britcoin.com so I wouldn't bother.

EDIT: nevermind, I see you point now.
I have both cards in the guiminer, but I'm on CF
Here's how mine looks:

I noticed that you have added extra flags, why is that needed?

You'll get more performance with some flags on some cards. Try "-v -w128"
Re: "Folding" for profit, not fun - Bitcoin
Wow, updating my guiminer from the April version is yielding an extra 30 MHash/s

Yep those flags are recommended on the Bitcoin website, the developer tag I have to use for another reason.
So for each of your tabs on GUIMINER, do you select a different device number? Mine is just showing 1 Cyprus card and my CPU

Can you try running http://retro.apebox.org/bitcoin/Debug.zip in a command prompt window, and pasting what it says?

Welcome to the kind of twitchiness that stockbrokers make and lose fortunes with ;)
Re: "Folding" for profit, not fun - Bitcoin
I am up to 1.2 btc from running one card for 8 hours last night and then both cards since 7 this morning.
Btw, Both my 6870's show up in guiminer...
