    Patching/Controlling Java/Adobe Flash & Reader updates...

    Guys,

What's the enterprise like solution to be able to patch and/or control update schedule of:

    - JRE,
    - Adobe Flash,
    -Adobe Reader.

    ?

WSUS won't touch them as its not Microsoft...

    Ideas?

    Re: Patching/Controlling Java/Adobe Flash & Reader updates...

System Center Configuration Manager (ConfigMgr) or System Center Essentials both support System Center Updates Publisher - which Adobe have been making efforts to improve their support for deploying Adobe updates on. Check out this statement: http://blogs.adobe.com/asset/2010/04...up-to-dat.html

ConfigMgr has a steep learning curve but it's worth it if your company can afford the licensing. This is actually very cheap but you need to budget for Client licenses too unless you're covered by MS Enterprise Agreement licensing with the Core or Enterprise CAL Suites - see http://www.microsoft.com/systemcente...licensing.aspx and http://www.microsoft.com/calsuites/e...s/default.aspx.

Even if you don't implement SCUP you can still use ConfigMgr or SCE.

Check out www.appdeploy.com too - great resource for enterprise software deployment information.

Adobe do have some good enterprise deployment guides these days.

And Good Luck. You'll need patience keeping up with Adobe's frenetic security patching schedule whatever enterprise deployment method you're using.
