Windows Home Server 2011 - Remote Access and Shared Folders

This is a bit of an awkward one, so I'm having trouble Googling an answer.

I have a pc set up at home with WHS2011. I switched off my main desktop pc with Windows 7 Home Premium before leaving for a holiday. I can remote access the server fine, and I can get to the dashboard. What I would like to do is copy some files from my home desktop's shared folders onto the server from remote access. I got mum to turn my desktop on, and I can see in the router's settings that it's connecting to the network, but the WHS dashboard doesn't seem to be connecting to the desktop.

Is there anything I can do remotely with very little help (i.e. almost none) from mum sitting in front of the desktop to get files from my desktop's shared folders onto the server's hard drive? I don't want mum installing things or poking around much, and I don't have any remote access software installed.

I'm thinking it might be possible for mum to use her laptop to view the shared folders on the network and copy from the desktop to the server, but would that mean her laptop handles the transfer at wifi speeds?

Get your mum to run Teamviewer on your desktop and connect to it from there?

Thanks. I eventually managed to talk my tired, grumpy, and technically inept mother through putting TeamViewer on the desktop and running it. All sorted, and now I've got what I wanted on the server.
