Help! Is this a security issue? Win XP Pro

Just moved to XP pro. Am frantically getting critical updates etc. But:-

My zonealarm is showing 'Generic Host Process for Win32 Services' (actual application listed as system32\svchost.exe). If I deny this access to internet I cannot browse. Yet if allowed access, there is a constant dialogue (mainly DL but some UL) even with no browser/email/etc open. I have granted my firewall and viruscan access for updates, I would expect them to connect regularly, even up to hourly, but this is CONSTANTLY showing inbound traffic.

    Any ideas guys? Thanks
