    Sata 300

    Is it strange that I see 2 SATA drives in system details as SCSI drives? (Win XP sp2)

    I have just made fresh new system and same fresh new machine.

    Never used SATA drives before so I ask this.

    I do have SCSI Adaptec card inside machine but this is recognized under SCSI adapters.

    Will after I update all MBO drivers with Win XP (SP2) system then recognize them as SATA drives
    or this is just default (SCSI) name OS is describing this drives.

    I mean, I have no functional problems because of this (at least not for now) but since I have no experience with SATA just wonder is this normal?

    The IDE interface was originally based on SCSI, I believe, so there is a fine line between them.

    My SATA controller is detected as a SCSI device, but the drives are under "Disk drives" and are part of an Array, so it's actually the array drive it displays.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    Thanks guys,

    The real reason I ask this is because I have received message while running ATI AIW performance test.

    that my SATA (SCSI) drives are not DMA capable?

    Is this because they optimize on Intel chipsets or what?

    Mine are running UMDA mode 6 - but the only place that reports that is my special SATA monitoring program that came with the SATA driver.
