    MS Paint and other "freebies in XP"

    here's a weird one....

    Boss man says "can you find MS Paint for me on my PC?" and I say..."yup....Find MSPAINT.EXE"

    We do that...and up it comes....but its mspaint.ex_

    therefore it dont work.

    Add remove programs, add windows stuff, choose Accessories and jobs a good un...

    but the question is.....

    whats that file? It was in SP (I guess Service Pack) on C:

    Does microsoft "half install" stuff or was that the archive.

    Its not important...I'm just interested.

    It's probably a compressed version of that file... Ready for install as it would be on the CD (and it must have been updated in the service pack hence why it's sitting on the HDD)... Lots of cab files contain files like that IIRC...

    check win control panel - add remove programs - add remove windows components.

    .. you can type 'expand mspaint.ex_' at the command prompt to expand the windows files which end in the .xx_ extension im sure
