Recovering Data From Quick Formated HARD Drive

    hello

i've some pc knowledge and i have a firend of a firend at work, who has restored there laptop to factory setting and losed all there work etc?

I know running the machine may overwrite data. What program(s) do i need to recover that data.

** i do not know that make yet the laptop will be here in an hour, also i've a spare pc to use to access the data.**

i m assumeing i take out the hard drive and plug in to a second pc and then..... use x program to scan the drive to recover the data

most of it wont be recoverable due to them restoring an image.

they may as well use the backups they had of there important data

its a shame he restored the image or you could have got the lot back with freeware, restoring an image would have destroyed most of it and tbh would take a lot of your time!
