My output will be down for a bit

New PC bits should arrive today so over the weekend my output will drop, and once the new PC is up and running my output will be lower (going from 2 machines folding Bigadv to just one).
Basicaly scaling back a bit to save some power, getting rid of the power hungry Nehalem and going to be using the i7-2600 that's currently in my Media / lan PC for the main machine (Gone MATX so I can use it for lanning rather than the media PC).

I do plan however sticking a cheap Celeron back in the media PC so its up and running again and can fold on the GPU so its not all bad.

And once Ivy Bride chips come out ill be getting a k variant i7 and sticking the sandy bridge back into the media machine again for more folding power.

Re: My output will be down for a bit

Yeah, I'd imagine several folding rigs are a bit painful for the bank account

So I take it the 2600 is not the K version?

Re: My output will be down for a bit

Yea its the non K version, at the time it was purchased it was going in the media PC and I didn't want it to draw to much power so didnt see the need.
It turbos up to 3.5GHz on all cores under load so it will be fine until Ivy Bridge is released and I can get back into overclocking.

Re: My output will be down for a bit

Shame you're scaling back for now as I'm also off-line. My step daughter had a party while I am away and someone has been f@cking around with my router. To protect my server I've had her power it oFf entirely - I've got a lot of stuff on that machine, and I've seen evidence of attacks which the router had been blocking on previous occasions. Back to the house on Saturday, and will fire up both machines then and will also have a crack at doing the stats.

Only 2 more months till the close of the year - be interested how much we can push for this year. I'd be surprised if it's anywhere near last year's effort as 1stRaven was chewing through work units like nothing I've seen before or since.

Keep us informed how you get on with the rebuild and when you get back up and running... These things rarely go as planned...

All donations (ie work units processed for Hexus) are gratefully received.

Back from holiday. Front door smashed in by Police. Going to post elsewhere for advice... All the folding rigs are ok and coming back on-line.

Your output may be down, but you've done your first million in less than 6 weeks! Well done mate!
