OK,
I've been scratching my head a little at this one and can't suss it out.
Taking things back to basics, I have:
VMware ESXi Enterprise running on a set of HP BL460c G7 blade servers, all connected to some SAN storage.
- HP OEM WS2008 R2 DataCenter ISO loaded into a VMFS DataStore.
- Created a new VM, using all the default parameters, except adding the SMBIOS.reflectHost = true so it passes the HP hardware validation. Single ethernet card changed to VMXNET3.
- Installed WS2008R2 booting from the ISO.
- Installed VMware tools, then set up the NIC.
- Joined the server to the domain.
- Copied across the SP1 installer (windows6.1-KB976932-X64.exe)
- Ran the installer as administrator
As soon as I get to the the commit stage, it immediately exits stating "A system error prevented the service pack from installing". Error code is 0x8007000d.
Did a quick search and can't find anything obvious.
CBS log file in case anyone's bored and wants to be my hero is here!![]()
