    IE issue, anyone else seen this?

    I work in a tech support role and one of the things that hit us really hard is our site had a major issue with lost login details, specifically you can save your ID and when you revist the cookie will load it in. Problem is this morning everyones had disappeared, this obviously caused major problems for support so I thought something had gone wrong with an update over the weekend.

    Anyway, just spoke to my brother in law and he says he has the same problem this morning, all his settings and ID's are gone from multiple sites, problem is his was not the company I work for.

    Anyone else had this? I am suspecting it could be a windows update that has caused this problem, if any of you can tell me if you had login details that were stored disappear over the weekend it would be appreciated....

    Thanks m@

    I had that happen last week, but it wasn't limited to IE, it was everything, firefox, outlook, and windows, everything dumped the stored passwords..

    No clue why either.. *shrugs*

    I've not had such problems, then again I only have a cookie to log into HEXUS and that's about it as far as stored stuff goes... :\
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    Out of interest, do you have Spybot Search & Destroy 1.3 installed?
    I recently upgraded from 1.2 and noticed the new "SDHelper" is activated by default, some "bad download blocker" apparently.

    Anyway, today my cookies & browser history all got blitzed for the second time... this PC isn't logged out (I just lock the workstation), so it's not any kind of login/logout event performing a cleanup...

    think i **might** know the issue

    since a recent update IE6 will not accept http://userass@www.domain.com as valid authentication. If this is the format that the cookies store the data then IE would simply ignore it... just guessin here tho

    Cookies don't tend to store information in that format - that would be a URL stored in your history, and (at least in my case) this wouldn't explain why I seem to have lost all my cookies and URL history without logging out.

    (The information I've used in cookies in the past is just a text string as a value of a given property name, such as "username" or "language".)

    It's literally as if someone has gone into Tools / Internet Options and clicked the "Delete Cookies" and "Clear History" buttons in IE.
    (Except I don't even use IE.)
