Registry Cleanup

I have been going on a mad cleanup spree on the computer at the moment, and one of the final things i want to do is running a Registry Fixer/Cleaner to just smooth out that area to

I used to run Regedit on my old PC's, but now, with XP i can't seem to find a copy of it anywhere Can it still be used and if so where can i get it from? One final thing also, after defrag, update of antivirus, install of firewall, the running of ad-aware, clearing junk of the HD and finally running disk cleanup utility. Is there much else i can do to get the PC as lean as possible again??

I do it about every 3-4 months.

Arrrh, bit of a problem there.

This PC was from a shop It was pre-installed with Windows ME, i reformatted HD when installed XP but had to preload ME in first, then upgrade to XP. So if i wanted to reformat i would imagine i have to do all that again!! ...And that takes the best part of ur day!

Next time run "winnt.exe" and not "setup.exe"

I tend to reformat every 10-12 months unless something goes majorly wrong. I generally do my best to keep things running tip top, but wouldn't mind a reg cleaner right now.

I do a format on my C: drive every (erm, unless major probs crop up.. seem to be doing that a lot lately! :/) 4-6months.

The way Agent mentions is the best, also, copying all the files from your XP cd to your HD, then do a search for a Windows 2000 installation CD Image. There might be a few sites out there with it on. Burn the image and files to a new CDR by using nero to create a BootCD then, setting the image that youve downloaded to the boot image. Then adding all the files to the root of the CD.

Should boot fine, its what I did with my OEM copy of XP Home, because it was rather annoying having to boot from a floppy, then "cd i386; winnt.exe". Gets old quick!
