~1000ppd increase, nothing massive but useful and it's such a shame people need to go to these lengths

Even footing would be nice, but I'm not holding my breath.
The comments seem to say it's coming at the expense of 100% CPU load. That's horrible PPW(att).

I gave up on f@h a while back after the apparent lack of effort going into the software, especially on the AMD side of things. For the amount of people folding + spending money on both hardware and electricity I'd expect a lot more from their side...

I really want to go to ATi cards again, at least with my htpc, the video quality of the GT240 that is in there is ok, but simply isn't as good as the video quality of even the ATi integrated on the motherboard, but I can't run both as the nVidia drivers disable cuda when an running with an ati card in the system, and although I can change that with some hacks, running dvi and sound cables to my tv isn't as good as just using hdmi.

I think ATI's insistance on using blowers in thier ref. cards is putting some people due to the noise.

Maybe they are getting better then; I just read the performance summaries!
Nvidia stock coolers are also centrifugal blowers, but that in itself doesn't mean it will be more or less noisy than an axial fan (bear in mind laptop coolers are nearly always centrifugal); unless you use a triple-slot cooler or something, an axial fan will have to work harder to move the same amount of air through the cooling fins as the air flow has to be turned through 90 degrees. Graphics cards aren't an ideal shape for cooling, considering they often produce more heat than the CPU in a PC, but they do have the advantage of being able to exhaust out of the back of the case.
